BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF AGENDA ITEM AND REQUESTED BOARD ACTION:
Discussion/approval/disapproval of an application by the Pinal County Attorney for payment of $25,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sun Corridor from the Pinal County Attorney’s Office anti-racketeering revolving fund account to cover the expense of administering the Positive Action program. This request is made in accordance with and under the authority of A.R.S. 13-2314.03(F) to provide substance abuse prevention and education programming. (Kent Volkmer)
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FISCAL CONSIDERATIONS AND/OR EXPECTED FISCAL IMPACT OF THIS AGENDA ITEM:
There will be no fiscal impact to the general fund as there is sufficient funding within the Pinal County Attorney’s Office RICO Fund.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPECTED PERFORMANCE IMPACT OF THIS AGENDA ITEM:
Nationally, the Positive Action program has been shown to improve mental health and self concept; reduce drug use, gang participation and violent activities; and expand career development and dropout prevention. The program will be offered to children in Arizona City, Casa Grande and Maricopa. The education and training provided to the youth of Pinal County fits squarely within the guidelines as a permissible use of funds.
