BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF AGENDA ITEM AND REQUESTED BOARD ACTION:
Discussion/approval/disapproval of Award Agreement CDC-RFA-CE-23-0002 under the Arizona State Toxicology Lab funding between the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Pinal County, through Pinal County Board of Supervisors, beginning September 1, 2023, ending August 31, 2024, for $37,676.50. Funding will be used by the Medical Examiner's Office for toxicology testing and improvement of the investigation of drug and overdose deaths. Acceptance requires an amendment to the FY 23/24 budget to transfer reserve appropriation from Fund 213 (Grants/Project Contingency) to Fund 266 (MISC Grants) to increase revenues and expenditures. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FISCAL CONSIDERATIONS AND/OR EXPECTED FISCAL IMPACT OF THIS AGENDA ITEM: The PCMEO currently appropriates $105,000 of its annual budget towards toxicology testing. Approval of this funding will offset up to $37,676.50 of these costs.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPECTED PERFORMANCE IMPACT OF THIS AGENDA ITEM: Acceptance of this funding will expand the PCMEO's ability to conduct toxicology testing on cases where such results are crucial to the determination of the cause and manner of death.
