Discussion/approval/disapproval to submit a grant application to the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance FY24 Improving Adult and Youth Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Program for $825,000.This grant will be used by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office for the Family Assistance and Support Team (FAST) program for personnel and EREs cost. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPECTED PERFORMANCE IMPACT OF THIS AGENDA ITEM:
The funds will create a Senior Justice Services Officer (JSO) to implement a family reunification program. This officer will screen jail inmates, connect them to services, and offer referrals for wrap-around family services. They will establish community provider relationships and coordinate Multidisciplinary Team Meetings with relevant agencies. Funds will aid families in overcoming barriers for justice-involved individuals and children, including mentorship, after-school programs, insurance coverage, and other needs.
