BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF AGENDA ITEM AND REQUESTED BOARD ACTION:
Discussion/approval/disapproval of an application for payment of $5,000 to Silent Witness of Casa Grande, Inc., to be used as reward funds for tips leading to the solving of and arrests of offenders in serious crimes. This request is made in accordance with and under the authority of A.R.S. 13-2314.03 whereby before the County Attorney's Office may use any monies from the fund that the County Attorney submit an application that includes a description of what the requested monies will be used for to the Board of Supervisors for approval. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FISCAL CONSIDERATIONS AND/OR EXPECTED FISCAL IMPACT OF THIS AGENDA ITEM:
There will be no fiscal impact to the general fund as there is sufficient funding within the Pinal County Attorney’s Office RICO Fund.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPECTED PERFORMANCE IMPACT OF THIS AGENDA ITEM:
Silent Witness of Casa Grande, Inc. receives crime tips for unsolved crimes both within and outside the City of Casa Grande. Those crime tips are forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency to assist them in identifying suspects and making arrests in unsolved crimes. Over the last two years, Silent Witness has received 330 crime tips, leading to 33 arrests in unsolved crimes while paying out over $12,700 in rewards.
